While working on the Cadbury Adams merger I learned that the Americas Region Human Resources team, which I am my team were members, was having a meeting in Miami.
I discussed whether to attend with my two change leads and we agreed there was too much going on to participate. When we realized that the team was going to plan next year’s work we became worried. By then our assignment would be over and we didn’t want to be left out in the cold.
We decided to go for 24 hours so we could help plan the future (with us in it). It was a whirlwind trip with the only recreation being a photo session with a palm tree taken by our taxi driver en route to the airport.
Change projects operate within the business and sometimes you have to pull double-duty to avoid being left behind.
